AMERlCAN lNDlAN MOVEMENT (AIM) OF COLORADO TO HOST PRESS CONFERENCE TO ANNOUNCE FUTURE PLANS FOR COLUMBUS QUlNCENTENARY

On Friday, July 10, , Russell Means, Executive Director of the American Colorado; will host a press conference to announce Colorado proposed celebration of the 500th anniversary of the invasion the Indian-murderer Christopher Columbus.

Joining Means will be representatives from several community organizations, crossing racial, religious and cultural boundaries, who are standing in solidarity with Colorado AIM on this important issue of racial justice.

The press conference comes exactly two weeks after Means, and three other Colorado AIM leaders were aquitted of all charges stemming from the blocking of the 1991 Columbus Day parade. Means will address the ramifications of the jury verdict, the breakdown of negotiations between the American lndian and Italian American communities, and the connection between Columbus Day and the continuing denial of racial justice for American lndian throughout the Americas.
