5 October 1990

Mr. William Marinella
Federation of Italian American Organizations of Colorado
4330 South Sherman St.
Denver, CO 80110

Dear Mr. Marinella:

Thank you for your letter of October 2, 1990. We received the letter on Thursday, October 4, 1990

On behalf of the American Indian Movement (AIM), Mr. Glenn Morris and I are requesting you and your organization to reconsider your denial of our initial request to participate in your Columbus Day Parade as the first entry, and at the head of the parade.

We wish only to convey the truth about Columbus, based solely on factual, documented historical evidence.

The American Indian Movement is pledged to the safety of the spectators and participants. Therefore we assure the Columbus Day Parade Committee, Inc. that there will be no unlawful behavior by members of our parade contingent, nor from our members who will be spectators, many of whom will be children, disabled and seniors.

Thank you for your thoughtful reconsideration of this request.

Sincerely,

Russell Means,

Glenn Morris, Co-director, Colorado AIM
