The International Indian Treaty Council would like to extend an official invitation for you to attend the 11th International Indian Treaty Conference. The conference will be held June 2-8 at Big Mountain, Dineh Nation, which is in the northeastern section of the Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona, USA.

This year has been very active for the Treaty Council, especially in working with the Navajo and Hopi people on the issue of forced relocation and energy development. Also, our work with the Miskito and other Indians in Nicaragua has been the subject of much controversy. These issues will be dealt with extensively at this conference, as well as many issues brought to us by different Indigenous delegations. We would like organizations and Indian people in general to submit suggested changes in the agenda to our information office in San Francisco.

Big Mountain is a remote community about 100 miles northeast of Flagstaff, Arizona. The nearest international airport is in Phoenix, Arizona, but you can connect to Flagstaff. The lodging will be in tents and sleeping bags, and we will serve two meals per day. The temperature will be in the 80's and 90's Fahrenheit. Water will be in short supply. We are also unable to provide any travel funds at this time.

We encourage you to prepare documentation to bring, such as interviews, photos and documents, as this is very useful in our work within the United Nations and in our publications.

If there are any questions, please write or call the following.
